2012 Competition Winners
In a celebration of America’s young people and the communities most dedicated to helping local youth graduate from high school, America’s Promise Alliance has announced the 2012 list of 100 Best Communities for Young People presented by ING. This year, winners were chosen from a pool of more than 320 nominees from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. They hail from 42 states, which is a record for the competition. Nineteen communities are receiving the honor for the sixth time and 18 more are winning for the first time. This year’s winners were chosen by a distinguished panel of judges that included some of the nation’s most well-known civic, business and nonprofit leaders.
